Andrew Pike MBA, BA (Hons) - Operations Director

Andy is an operations, performance and commercial specialist, with over 20 years’ experience across rail and other regulated industries in the UK and overseas. In the rail industry, his experience encompasses front-line operational roles to senior management and consultancy positions. He has provided lead support across a range of bid activity and other projects, with specific emphasis on regulatory and contractual advice, operations and performance.


Since joining North Star as Operations Director, Andy has worked on a wide variety of commissions. He has provided strategic air-rail advice to a major London airport and conducted several reviews and analyses for transport companies. Andy has been involved in a variety of bid work in the UK, Middle East and North America for franchises and rolling stock procurements, including pre-qualification. He is currently acting as interim Operations Readiness Director for Transport for Wales having successfully delivered their operations mobilisation and transition. Previously, he led the Performance workstream for Abellio’s South Eastern bid and worked as a DfT evaluator for WCP franchise competition. As an experienced operations expert and bidder, Andy has also conducted bid evaluation for private and public clients including the Department for Transport.


Prior to North Star, Andy worked extensively with a range of significant public/private sector clients in the UK and overseas. This includes senior regulatory roles and bid strategy positions within the transport, defence and water industries.
