Mobilisation and Operations Readiness Case Study
Dubai Metro, UAE
For the Dubai Metro, the first GOA4 metro in the Middle East and the world’s longest fully automated metro system at the time of opening, we were engaged by Serco Middle East to provide operational readiness and mobilisation support two years before operations which continued through to full revenue service. This included leading the preparation of procedures and instructions for submission to the client and the Independent Safety Assessor. We also prepared the safety case addendum for opening the service with a reduced configuration and providing assurance support to several validation and verification tasks.
Post-opening, we were retained to provide support to the embedding of the service to achieve full automation and project-managed updates to procedures and instructions in light of operational experience. North Star was commissioned to provide operational support to the start-up of the Dubai Metro. Our assistance provided vital expertise to this flagship project which opened on time on the 9th September 2009 to universal global acknowledgement, meeting the aspirations of our client Serco and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
