North Star, a consultancy specialising in customer service, operations and people strategies, has appointed Rod Hoare, one of the best known names in the transport industry, as their non-executive chairman.
Rod Hoare explains why he chose to join the recently formed consultancy: “Obviously the directors of North Star have an excellent pedigree and with their combined experience they represent a unique collection of proven talent. Alongside this I was most impressed with their energy and enthusiasm for enhancing a client’s performance. I wanted to be part of this team and help them develop into a world class consultancy.”
Rod Hoare holds various non-executive roles and is currently the Chairman of Inova and Aeolus.
He was Chief Executive of Metronet for four years from 1999 to 2003. Immediately prior to this he was Group Rail Director for BAA plc and Chairman of Heathrow Express, which he developed from its early concept stages in 1994 to its operating business. Rod has spent over 30 years in the Transport industry with BOAC, P&O, Sally Ferries, British Caledonian and British Airways. He was awarded the MBE in 1976.
Richard Brown, founding director of North Star, adds: “It is an honour and a privilege to have Rod accept our offer as Chairman. As a young team we are looking forward to be able to utilise Rod’s extensive experience not just at the industry specific level but also as an individual who has held a variety of senior management posts guiding several organisations to success.”
