“Between 2018 and 2021, North Star provided Keolis/ Amey (Transport for Wales Rail Services – TfWRS) with mobilisation, transition and operations project leadership for its contract in Wales.
To ensure readiness for handover on Day One, North Star ensured our mobilisation and transition planning for operational readiness was robust and that all risks were mitigated. Following this, there was the commencement of a significant number of operational readiness activities, including;
- Cascaded introduction of new trains
- Operational resource planning
- Operational readiness for timetable changes
- Mitigation of Covid impacts on training delivery
- Transformational planning for Cardiff Valley Metro services – new Integrated Control Centre, new depot (fleet and traincrew) and new infrastructure including electrification
To facilitate this, North Star provided operations readiness leadership embedded within the business. This essential support strengthened the senior management team and ensured clear ownership within the operational function for the significant changes underway in Wales. It has also ensured that the organisation is prepared to deliver these changes for passengers through to 2023.”
