Senior Consultant – Maintenance and Asset Management
Alastair is a Chartered Engineer with international experience in the rail and wider transport industry, including buses. His role has developed from operations and maintenance roles as part of multiple major change initiatives to senior management and Director level roles in the UK, Europe, Australia and North America. Alastair has led transformation programmes for multiple projects and disciplines, delivering them on time, on budget and to a high standard whilst ensuring the organisations ultimately operate and deliver more effectively. He is expert at advising and recommending solutions to complex systems integration problems and delivering and advising on new schemes from an early stage successfully into passenger operation on both client and contractor sides. He has led a number of rail franchise bids, providing specialist procurement and technical advice.
Projects include:
- Providing operations and maintenance technical advice on the procurement of the Valley Line West, a low-floor tram line extension in Canada
- Providing specialist advice on contingency planning for the Operator of Last Resort in Scotland
- Providing specialist technical operations and maintenance advice on the Calgary Light Rail Green Line in Canada
- Advising the Department for Transport’s procurement team on the development of the Pre-qualification Passport scheme for UK train operating companies.
