North Star is pleased to welcome Lesley Dorrington, a business strategy and management specialist with 23 years’ experience, predominantly in the rail industry. Lesley has held senior Human Resources (HR) roles in several organisations, working at a strategic level, developing creative and innovative solutions to improve employee engagement and performance, as well as business productivity.
As a consultant, she has supported large organisations in franchise bidding, including MTR’s bids for the Wales and Borders and West Coast Partnership franchises. More recently, she has enhanced her blend of rail, business and HR knowledge and experience through her work as an Evaluator for the UK Department of Transport (DfT) for their evaluation of National Rail Contracts (NRCs). She also played a pivotal role for Scottish Rail Holdings (SRH) as ScotRail successfully transferred to public ownership.
Recent projects include:
- Undertaking an evaluation of train operating companies’ performance, specifically related to business management activities, in delivering their NRCs on behalf of the DfT
- Leading and advising on people issues for SRH as ScotRail successfully transferred to public ownership
- Providing advice for Northern Rail on the development of their Business Plan for submission to the DfT
- Developing and implementing the annual and three-year strategic plans and representing people issues to the Board at Trenitalia c2c Ltd.
Based in our London office, Lesley will be supporting North Star projects both in the UK and internationally.
