Michaela is a transport operations specialist, with 30 years’ international experience in the rail industry. Her career has developed from frontline operational roles to Director-level positions in the UK and overseas, where she has led and advised on major rail transformation programmes. She has provided strategic advice on procurement, planning, implementation and delivery of public transport services, both as the ultimate operator and as a consultant to contracting authorities. Her combination of operational, technical and commercial expertise enables her to drive and deliver ‘best for project’ outcomes. Michaela is acknowledged as a world-leading expert on light rail operations, although she also has considerable experience of other passenger transport modes through her involvement on a diverse range of UK and international projects.

Projects include:

  • Conducting, reviewing and making recommendations on a business-wide operational ‘health check’ on the service delivery and management of the Sydney Light Rail asset portfolio
  • Leading the operations team and providing expert advice on operations for a consortium’s successful Ontario Line operations and maintenance bid
  • Providing specialist advice to a consortium bidding for the Supply, Operate and Maintain contract for the new Paramatta Light Rail system in Australia
  • Supporting a consortium in their Public-Private Partnership tender for the Jerusalem Light Rail Red Line extension and new Green Line.
