“I am pleased to say that demand for North Star’s specialist rail operations expertise in the UK, Europe and internationally continues to grow. In the past 6 months we have provided operations advice, proposal management services, public sector advice and assistance to airports in rail connectivity on behalf of clients in the UK, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, France and the United Arab Emirates.

As always, we apply our customer-centric approach to everything we do. We are looking forward to future opportunities throughout Europe, the Middle East and further afield in a growing transport sector.”

-Richard Brown, Managing Director.

In support of North Star's continued growth and strengthening presence in the Middle East market, the start of 2017 saw the permanent appointment of Leanne Wheeler as Operations Manager (Middle East) and Katy Polley as Operations Support Consultant. Both Leanne and Katy are supporting the continued development of the business within the region and are permanently based in our Dubai office. Leanne and Katy will build on North Star's success since the Middle East Office was established in 2014, with Richard Brown continuing as Managing Director.

North Star Consultancy has just released its annual review of the global air-rail market share for air-rail operators. The report shows a continuation in the surge seen in last year’s air-rail market share, which is driven by targeted investment by participating operators in marketing, the customer experience and customer perception as well as competitive awareness. The graph below demonstrates the trend.

London Luton Airport is calling on the Government to include a requirement to introduce four fast trains per hour from central London to Luton Airport Parkway (LAP) as part of the upcoming East Midlands rail refranchising process.

According to an independent economic analysis by North Star Consultancy, increasing the number of hourly fast trains to LAP from one to four through timetable change could significantly increase rail revenue up to £110 million at no cost to the rail operator or DfT, and could almost double the number of passengers travelling by train to the airport; reducing traffic congestion by 70,000 journeys and saving 500 tonnes of CO2.
