North Star were engaged to create a 10-year customer vision for DLRL. In 2015, we supplied a specialist team to conduct detailed analysis of current and proposed plans for enhancing customer experience at DLR. After establishing gaps, the team made a number of proposals including modal integration, interfaces and connectivity, passenger communication, customer service and station design and layout.

North Star, along with its DfT STAR (Strategic Technical Advice for Rail) Framework partner Atkins, was engaged by DfT to provide key insights into the future 2035 Railway Vision.
As customer experience specialists, North Star’s work focussed on the production of a detailed report that addressed how future travel trends and the ‘digital railway’ would improve journeys for passengers.

North Star’s expertise has been instrumental in advising transport authorities and leading operators in the bidding, design, development and delivery of shadow operations for new railway start-ups throughout the GCC and internationally. North Star’s design solution for shadow operations includes provision of strategic advice, market engagement, development of tender documents, development of strategies, policies, procedures and design review activities. Our expert advice and specialist technical knowledge has been relied upon to develop key aspects of flagship rail projects during the concept phase, with commissions including:

North Star is contracted to provide consultancy support to Atkins for all railway operational requirements in their framework contract with the Department for Transport, known as Specialist Technical Advice for Rail (STAR).

The STAR framework was developed by Rail Executives to "procure the very best expertise available within the marketplace to offer specialist railway technical and commercial advisory service that support the DfT’s rail contracting, major rail projects and other rail-related activities."
