Rod Hoare is a highly experienced transport professional with worldwide knowledge in Railways, Aviation, Shipping and Roads. He has been involved in developing transport both in UK and in West and East Africa, South East Asia, the USA and the Middle East. He has led a number of public sector projects in UK where the total concept from feasibility studies, planning through to the building and commissioning of new infrastructure is required. He has a passion for ensuring that the Customer and the Passenger in transport projects is paramount in the end product .He specialises in leading and managing consortium groups.
Rod was awarded an MBE in 1976 and is one of the best known names in the transport industry. With over 30 years experience, Rod has held various non-executive roles in addition to being Chairman of North Star,. He was Chief Executive of Metronet for four years from 1999 to 2003. Immediately prior to this he was Group Rail Director for BAA plc and Chairman of Heathrow Express, which he developed from its early concept stages in 1994 to its operating business. Rod has a proven track record of guiding several organisations to success, such as BOAC, P&O, Sally Ferries, British Caledonian and British Airways.
