Dubai Metro Green Line

Exactly two years after the opening of the Red Line in Dubai, the Green Line was opened on 9th September by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in a special ceremony. The Metro’s second line gives better access to the old town and more residential areas. Richard Brown appeared as a guest on Dubai One TV’s live coverage of the opening on 9th September.

In 2009, in readiness for the Red Line opening North Star was commissioned to provide operational support to the start-up of the Dubai Metro, the first in the Middle East. The overall objective was achieved, the service opened on time on the 9th September 2009 and a number of repeat commissions have followed.



Richard was invited to speak about North Star’s experience preparing to open new Metro services, specifically:

• Railway operations, incident and crisis management;
• Conceiving and operating railways that have the customer experience at their core;
• Start-up and implementation of new railways and dealing with issues that arise in implementation;
• Improving customer information during disruption; and
• Transportation for major sporting events.
