Paul joined North Star as a specialist in operational safety and contract management to build on a successful career of 33 years spanning British Rail to its successor companies in the 1990’s. Paul’s pioneering spirit has been demonstrated in the last nine years where he worked in start-up freight company GB Railfreight.

At GB Railfreight, following initial work in resource and control management he became Head of Safety in 2001 where amongst other things he project managed the company’s certification in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

After 5 years as Head of Safety he became Contract Manager where he was responsible for the commercial and operational management of Royal Mail and Passenger Services contracts. Apart from overseeing double digit growth of the business revenues he delivered the award winning first class mail train re-introduction to rail where he was responsible for the commercial and implementation arrangements. He also managed the successful application for a passenger licence and set up commercial systems for dealing with charter train requests.
